A
PERSONAL MESSAGE
FROM THE FOUNDER OF KADD
Dear Friends,
My wife and I are
advocates for the victims of chemically addicted ill members of our society
after experiencing the tragedy of our family members’ addiction as well as the
hardship of finding a phone number for help or financial assistance.
Speaking with others, we have found that we were not alone with this problem.
With the support of other families with great enthusiasm, true concern, and
compassion, combined with their own experiences, we began meeting to discuss
ways to assist families in the community that were dealing with the same
problems.
Two years of
research, planning, and organization meetings with court officials, schools,
churches, and other community leaders, we compiled the information that we
believed needed to help make constructive changes in our community. Our
goal was to move in a direction that was positive and effective, not a
duplication of any other community service ever offered.
Our first step was
providing a web-site with information regarding all rehabilitation centers in
the state of Kentucky. We now provide a national rehabilitation register
link. We began distributing packets of educational/preventional material
to businesses, schools, hospitals, medical offices, community leaders, jails,
and churches. A large portion of the general public is reached through
television, newspapers, and radio. We participate in public forums, youth
summits, and science and health fairs. We provide an informative visual
drug display to help teach drug and alcohol awareness to students and parents in
all 31 counties of Eastern Kentucky. Our main objective is to provide a
support system within our organization and to build a bridge for those in need
of assistance. These are only a few of the reasons that KADD was founded;
to help make a difference in our community. We realize that our efforts
are not possible without your support. To save one individual at a time is
our goal, we have already done that, and so with your help just maybe together
we can help save more lives from the horrible tragedy of drug and alcohol
addiction.
I would personally
like to thank those that have supported my wife, my friends, and myself, and
especially for supporting KADD. I know the value of having a strong
support system while going through the recovery process. The miracle of
recovery is possible- it may be yours. Your contributions are greatly
appreciated by all of those in recovery.
